Step-By-Step Instructions

STEP 1:

Prepare surface to be flat and smooth. Replace heavily warped and damaged boards and nail/screw down exposed nail heads. Clean the surface to remove any dirt or debris.

STEP 2:

Measure and cut ProFekt approx. 3-4 inches longer than decking boards. Lay pre-cut ProFekt in direct sun until it becomes flat and pliable.

STEP 3:

Pre-cut and fit ProFekt around posts or other irregularities before applying the strips to the board with adhesive.
____________________________________________________

STEP 4:

Apply exterior adhesive for wood and PVC along the length of the board that when troweled flat, a thin layer completely covering the board exists.

STEP 5:

Use a “V” notched trowel to spread the adhesive across the width of the board being careful not to trowel along the length of the board. Remove any adhesive in-between adjacent boards as this can be seen once installation is complete.

STEP 6:

Ensure the trowel lines run across the width of the deck board to avoid trapping air during application of the decking strip.

STEP 7:

Apply ProFekt on top of the adhesive being careful not to get adhesive on the top side of the ProFekt.

STEP 8:

Apply light pressure on top of the ProFekt to ensure a solid bond of the adhesive. Using your hands in a sweeping motion, lightly press the ProFekt onto the board – being careful to keep the ProFekt in a straight line along the length of the board. Avoid over applying pressure as this will cause the adhesive to flow out from under the ProFekt and may cause voids in the installation. Caution: Gloves may be used to avoid hand irritation while pressing the
product down with a wiping motion.

STEP 9:

Repeat steps 2-8 on the next deck board. Once ProFekt has adhered (approx. 24 hours), trim each ProFekt to match the deck board with a utility knife and straight edge.
